Engagement Strategies for Teaching Challenges (Online: 25 May-26 June, 2026)

Engagement Strategies for Teaching Challenges (Online: 25 May-26 June, 2026)

This course can count toward the Certificates in University Teaching.

Student engagement is a common goal whether you are teaching in person, online, or a mix of both. In this course, we will explore the challenges and barriers to engaging students across modalities. We will begin with the TEC-VARIETY framework, which offers evidenced-based solutions and strategies for online learning, and collaboratively adapt and update its ideas for our own teaching contexts. Discover how you can add some TEC-VARIETY to your course(s) to make them engaging and motivate your learners.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will have
-Identified challenges for engaging students in multiple teaching contexts
-Used the TEC-VARIETY framework to categorize a chosen challenge and describe a strategy that can be used to address this challenge
-Discussed various challenges and solutions with peers to build a repository of ideas for engaging students in a variety of learning environments
