Community of Practice: Decolonisation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (DEDI) in Teaching and Learning

As comfortable pedagogies have been disrupted in multiple ways over the past few years, faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants have all grappled with the complexities of teaching a diverse student body equitably and inclusively, and with the challenges posed by our collective need to confront systemic oppression, to decolonize our curricula and classrooms, to ensure accessibility in teaching and learning, and to respond to calls for Indigenization.

This community of practice (CoP), supported by the Teaching Commons, has formed in response to the above. We seek to create space for collaborative, exploratory, supportive, and critical conversations amongst those who engage with this work at York.

This CoP is open to anyone who teaches at York and is committed to building and sustaining a culture of DEDI in higher education. Synchronous online meetings occur monthly and are supplemented with asynchronous resource-sharing and forum discussion. Attendance at synchronous meetings is NOT required to join this CoP.
