Trauma-Informed Pedagogies Series (Fall 2023 - Winter 2024)

Trauma-Informed Pedagogies Series (Fall 2023 - Winter 2024)

This 10-part workshop series will introduce participants to the topic of trauma-informed teaching and offer practical strategies for supporting students and themselves while developing a trauma-informed classroom. Through participation in active learning activities, reflective discussions, and collaborative conversations, participants will explore how to apply learned strategies in their own teaching contexts and consider their own personal parameters within their teaching.

The series is offered in two parts: Part One will be held in Fall 2023, and Part Two will be held in Winter, 2024. Participants who complete at least 7 workshops out of all 10 workshops will receive a letter of completion upon request. Alternatively, individual workshops can be counted towards the Certificate in Teaching Practices (for Faculty Members/Contract Instructors) or a Record of Completion Certificate (for Graduate Students/Teaching Assistants).

All sessions will be held online via Zoom. Due to the sensitive nature of the topics of discussion and to allow participants to share freely, the sessions will not be recorded. This workshop series is co-organized and co-facilitated by the Teaching Commons and the Centre for Human Rights, Equity, and Inclusion.
